Publication Metadata only Kardiyovasküler Hastalıklarda Hasta Değerlendirme ve Hemşirelik Bakımı(2019-09-26) GÜL, ASİYE; 112620Publication Metadata only Validity and reliability study of Pieper Pressure Ulcer test in Tuskish Nurses(2019-06) GÜL, ASİYE; 112620Aim: The aim of the cross-sectional and descriptive study was to determine validity and reliability Pieper Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Test (PUKT) in Turkish Nurses. Methods: The sample consists of Turkish nurses who working in a training and research hospital in the European side of Istanbul. Data were collected using the PUKT. The PUKT was developed by Pieper in 1993 to evaluate pressure ulcer prevention, staging of pressure ulcers, and wound identification of nurses' knowledge. Lawrence et al. validated modified Pieper Pressure Ulcer Information Test in 2015. The test consists of 49 items, a correct answer was scored 1, and an incorrect response was scored 0, thus, the possible score range was from 0 to 49. Results: The language validity and cultural adaptation were performed of the PUKT. In the analysis, which was conducted according to expert opinions, the content validity index (CVI=0.918) were determined. The reliability of the scale was examined with time invariance and internal consistency. In the test-retest test, there was no statistically significant difference between the two measurement results (t = -1.875, p = 0.06), the correlation coefficient was 0.840 and the relationship between them was statistically significant. The Kuder Richardson 20 value, which was calculated for testing internal reliability, was found to be 0.735. The Kappa value was determined to be 0.646; thus, the test had good interrater reliability. Conclusion: it has been determined that Turkish form of PUKT is appropriate measurement tool in terms of language and content validity to Turkish nursing.Publication Open Access Pressure Injury in the Perioperative Period During COVID-19 Pandemic: Incidence and Patient-Related Risk Factors in a Hospital in Turkey(Tissue Viability Society, 2022) Şengül, Tuğba; GÜL, ASİYEPublication Metadata only Hemşirelik Kuram ve Modele Dayalı Lisansüstü Tez Çalışmalarının İncelenmesi(2019-10) Türen, Sevda; Atakoğlu, Rahime; Madenoğlu Kıvanç, Meral; GÜL, ASİYE; 269959; 301959; 100855; 112620Amaç: Hemşirelik kuram ve modellerine dayalı tasarlanan araştırmalar, hemşirelik bilgi birikimine katkı sağlamakla birlikte hemşirelik uygulamalarını da geliştirir. Publication Restricted The Determination of Patient Learning Needs After Day Surgery: A Cross-Sectional Study(Elsevier, 2022) Üstündağ, Hülya; GÜL, ASİYE; Özkaya, BirgülPurpose: This study was conducted to investigate the care perception and learning needs of patients undergoing day surgery. Design: A descriptive and cross-sectional model was used. Methods: The study was conducted with 234 patients who underwent day surgery in a general surgery clinic of a university hospital. Data were collected using a sociodemographic characteristics form, the Patient Perception of Hospital Experience with Nursing Scale (PPHEN) and the Patient Learning Needs Scale (PLNS). Findings: The PPHEN mean score was 67.99 ± 11.98 and the PLNS total score was 211.15 ± 38.49. The subscales showed that the highest scores were 38.47 ± 6.93 for activities of life, while the lowest score was 20.60 ± 4.23 for feelings related to condition. There was a statistically significant negative correlation in the PPHEN and PLNS subscales in terms of medications, activities of living, treatment, and complications. There was no statistically significant relationship between the demographic data of the patients (age, gender, and educational status). Conclusions: This study demonstrated that patients had high information needs and greater concerns, particularly about "activities of life." Nurses should be aware of the importance of identifying high learning needs to increase the level of satisfaction with nursing care in day surgery patients.Publication Restricted Assessment of the Risk of Pressure Ulcer During the Perioperative Period: Adaptation of the Munro Scale to Turkish(Elsevier Science Ltd., 2021) GÜL, ASİYE; Şengül, Tuba; Yavuz, Hafize ÖzgeAim of the study: This study was conducted to adapt the Munro Pressure Ulcer Risk Assessment Scale (Munro Scale) to Turkish and to test its validity and reliability. Materials and methods: In the methodological study, the data were collected using the patient identification form, the Braden Scale, and the Munro Scale. A total of 188 patients were diagnosed for the risk of preoperative and intraoperative pressure ulcer, and then re-evaluated in the recovery room and in their bed. Results: The study group consisted of 81 (43.1%) males and 107 (56.9%) females with a mean age of 51.98 ± 16.87. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin sampling adequacy test was 0.588 and the Bartlett's test was 430.471. The results of goodness of fit indices were not as expected value in the confirmatory factor analysis. In the exploratory factor analysis, it was determined that the factor loadings of the Munro Scale varied between 0.336 and 0.873 and explained 62% of the total variance. In the parallel-form method performed for the reliability of the scale, it was observed that there was a weak and negative correlation between the total scores of the Munro Scale and Braden Scales before the surgery and a negative and moderate correlation between the total scores after the surgery. The total Cronbach's alpha value was found to be 0.504. In the reliability analysis of the scale, interrater correlation coefficients were found to be 0.865-0.998.Publication Restricted Translation and Validation of the ELPO for Turkish Population: Risk Assessment Scale for the Development of Pressure Injuries Due to Surgical Positioning(Elsevier, 2022) Şengül, Tuğba; GÜL, ASİYE; Yılmaz, Dilek; Gökduman, TuğbaAim of the study: This study was conducted to translate the ELPO risk assessment scale for the development of pressure injuries due to surgical positioning to Turkish and to test its validity and reliability in the Turkish Population. Materials and methods: The data were collected using the patient identification form, the risk assessment scale for the prevention of injuries due to surgical positioning, and the Braden Scale. This scale consisted of a total of seven items, each of which contained five sub-items. It is rated between 1 and 5 in the Likert type. The total score of the scale ranges between 7 and 35. The risk of developing pressure injuries increases in patients as the score increases. Results: A total of 184 patients were included in the study sample. The mean age of the group was 55.96 ± 17.90, and the content validity index was 0.944. The sensitivity of the test was 60%, the specificity was 66%, and the accuracy was 66%. There was a negative, weak, statistically significant correlation between the total scores of the risk assessment scale for the prevention of injuries due to surgical positioning and the Braden scale. The mean total score of the scale was 18.45 ± 2.96 (12-26) and 35.9% (n = 66) of the group were at high risk. Conclusions: The ELPO, which includes the risks specific to patients during surgery, can be used as an assessment scale for the development of pressure injury due to surgical positioning for Turkish population.Publication Restricted Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors and Quality of Life After Sleeve Gastrectomy(Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2020) Üstündağ, Hülya; GÜL, ASİYE; Özkaya, Birgül; Zengin, NerimanThe aim of this study was to evaluate healthy lifestyle behaviors and the quality of life of obese individuals in 3-12 months after sleeve gastrectomy. Promotion of health and a healthy lifestyle need to be an integral part of health services provided for patients after sleeve gastrectomy.Publication Metadata only Development of Fistula in a Patient With Crohn's Disease: a case report(2019-06) GÜL, ASİYE; 112620INTRODUCTION: A fistula is an abnormal connection between two epithelized surfaces. 15- 25% of the fistulas develop spontaneously and 75-85% develop after surgery. Spontaneous fistulas develop after radiotherapy, diverticulitis, appendicitis, peptic ulcer perforation, pancreatitis, intestinal tuberculosis, inflammatory bowel disease. Malnutrition, sepsis, shock, circulatory failure, corticosteroid treatment, difficulties in surgical anastomosis cause fistula formation. Fistula develops 20% -40% with Crohn's disease. 75% of intestinal fistulas open to the skin. It has psychological, physiological, sociological and economic effects in patients with fistula. Objective: In this study, it was emphasized the importance of nursing care of a patient with Crohn's disease, difficult management, and long-standing fistula. Case: Mr. ET who has Crohn's disease, is 27 years old, married, graduated from primary school, lived in the village outside of Istanbul. The patient admitted to the emergency department with severe abdominal pain at the time of his visit to his brother. The emergency operation performed due to Ileus and common small intestinal dilatation. Segmenter small intestine resection and ileostomy performed and the patient followed up in the intensive care unit. Because of intraabdominal abscess, a vacuum system is applied. Afterward, two fistulas developed in the abdominal region. The total parenteral and enteral food is used for weight loss. Antibiotic therapy initiated for infection. Three months later, the fistula healed and the patient discharged on his own request. Conclusion: Complicated nursing care and multidisciplinary care must be provide for the problems that may occur in the patient who is hospitalize for a long time after the fistula.
